Islamabad (March 10, 2025) – The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, has called on the European Union to appoint a special representative for the Kashmir issue and play its role in resolving the conflict to ensure lasting peace in South Asia. He stated that both Pakistan and India are nuclear powers, and any minor incident between them could escalate into a major war.
During his meeting with Austrian Ambassador Andrea Wicke at Kashmir House, Islamabad, President Sultan Mahmood emphasized that European countries, particularly Austria, should actively work towards resolving the Kashmir dispute and addressing human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir. He highlighted Austria’s strong human rights record and urged the international community to take action against the increased human rights violations in the region, especially after India’s August 5, 2019, move.
