JIAS Writing Internship in South Africa invites passionate writers for a 3 months long Fully Funded JIAS Writing Internship in South Africa. This year the focus of the Writing Internship will be Global Blackness. At JIAS, the phrase “global Blackness” is used to indicate the institute’s commitment to analyze the variety of Black viewpoints, experiences, intellectual practices, as well as Black theoretical approaches. JIAS Internship invites analytical and multidisciplinary research projects as well as collaborative projects.
FormerInternship which have been a part of this writing scholarship program included media professionals, researchers, independent researchers, scriptwriters, poets, and authors. While applying, writers have to mention about their ongoing or a new project that they intend to work on during this fully funded Internship program. During the three-month residential period, fellows are encouraged to keep their other research or personal responsibilities on hold so that they can completely focus on their project.
JIAS Writing Internship provides an exciting opportunity for creative and experimental research in the Global South. This will free up time and space for exploration without the pressures of professional or academic life, such managing, teaching, and grading. Along with research fellowships and residency programs, JIAS platform also offers an extensive program of reading groups, seminars, conferences, workshops, lectures, exhibitions, and an annual Global Blackness Summer School.

Eligibility Criteria for JIAS Writing Internship in South Africa:
- Can be experienced researchers, innovative practitioners, or influential figures.
- Should be PhD holders.
- Who are creative practitioners do not need to have a PhD degree but they should have experience of interdisciplinary research projects.
- Should be involved in research projects or publications related to their field.
- Will be given preference who are linked to Global South contexts.
- As women candidates will be given preference.
